The 2008 CDA Board-approved statement on this topic resulted from the feedback received from stakeholders by the Committee on Clinical and Scientific Affairs (CCSA), at its October 2008 meeting. The CDA Position on the use of fluorides in caries prevention has been updated and revised as of April 2010.

Parents of pediatric patients and all CAPD/ACDP members should be aware of the current news coverage on Bisphenol A (BPA) and its relationship to dental materials.
On Friday, April 18, 2008, the Honourable Tony Clement, Minister of Health, and the Honourable John Baird, Minister of the Environment, announced that Canada intended to declare Bisphenol A (BPA) a toxic substance under the Canadian Environmental Protection Act. This would give Government the authority to make regulations to control BPA.
