Manitoba Pediatric Dentists Meet with CAPD/ACDP Executive Members

CAPD/ACDP President Louis-René Charette and Communications Committee Chair Steve Baylin travelled to Winnipeg on Saturday, January 30, 2010 to meet with our Manitoba colleagues. This was just one of the few nationwide meetings our current President has arranged, for the purposes of reaching out to current and prospective CAPD/ACDP members in an informal setting to air concerns, discuss current local events and promote the ever-growing persona and national voice of the Academy.

The breakfast meeting at the Winnipeg Delta Hotel coincided with the Manitoba Dental Association’s AGM. Discussions about possible future CAPD/ACDP AGM’s being held in Winnipeg, the structuring of a finite Manitoba Academy or Society of Pediatric Dentistry, recruitment of new members for the unaffiliated pediatric dentists, and the idea of CAPD/ACDP’s role to aid in the development of pediatric dental clinic care in the far North (Nunavut, Northwest Territories, and Yukon) were just some of the topics covered in the brief 90 minute meeting.

It was felt by the Academy’s President and Communications Chair, and hopefully by the Manitoba members present, that the meeting’s discussions and any future outcomes of the ideas presented would widen the scope of participation in the Academy by all Manitoba pediatric dentists in this Midwest Canadian region.

The CAPD/ACDP Executive wants to thank all of the Manitoba pediatric dentists for attending the meeting! We look forward to seeing a large contingency in Ottawa this September at our next Annual General Meeting
