The Canadian Academy of Pediatric Dentistry /Académie Canadienne de Dentisterie Pédiatrique (CAPD/ACDP) is the membership organization representing over 200 pediatric dentists across Canada. Our members serve as primary and comprehensive oral health care providers for children from infancy through the teen-age years. With specialized techniques of behaviour management and dental care we provide the diagnostic, preventive, therapeutic and consultative expertise required by children, including those with special health care needs.
VISION STATEMENT:
CAPD/ACDP promotes and encourages excellence in pediatric dentistry and the achievement of optimal health for infants, children, adolescents and persons with special health care needs.
MISSION STATEMENT:
CAPD/ACDP is the recognized national voice of pediatric dentistry. CAPD/ACDP represents its specialist practitioners and advocates for and promotes optimal oral health for infants, children, adolescents and persons with special health care needs.

CAPD/ACDP MEMBER QUALIFICATIONS: All members-in-good-standing of the CAPD/ACDP have graduated from a two- or three-year accredited post-graduate pediatric dental specialty program in Canada or the United States of America. Graduating from such a program provides the practitioner with a Master's Degree and Diploma Certificate in pediatric dentistry. As a requirement for licensure as a specialist, each pediatric dentist's credentials are accepted by the respective provincial licencing bodies only after the applicant has completed an additional national examination process through the Royal College of Dentists of Canada (RCDC). Successful completion of the RCDC specialty examination may lead to Fellowship in the College and the use of the designation FRCD(C).
